How long do Robotic robot mowers last? The life expectancy of a robot mower is about ten-twelve years.
How do robot lawnmowers work? Some robot mowers use wire boundaries around the area that needs to be cut, the robot detects when it is approaching the wire and changes its course in a random direction. Some advanced versions use a 360 laser to sense incoming obstacles.
Are robotic lawnmowers safe? Yes! Robot mowers like all mowers have cutting blades underneath, safety features such as collision detection systems make robotic mowers very safe to use.
Do robot lawnmowers collect grass? Robotic mowers are mulching mowers. They cannot collect grass but instead spread clipping so that their nutrients are put back into the soil.
First Things First..
The first thing that must be considered when buying a robot lawn mower is the size of your lawn. Your lawns size is one of the most crucial factors when choosing a robotic mower to purchase; Once you’ve worked out how big your garden is, you can focus on the models that best suit your lawn size.
BEST FOR LAWNS UP TO 400m²
The Flymo 1200R is suitable for lawns of up to 400m². It has an excellent balance of features for a really competitive price. For those with a smaller garden, who don’t want to spend more than is necessary on a robot lawnmower, I think that this is the best robot lawnmower for you.
Flymo is owned by Husqvarna & is one of the giants in the world of robot lawnmowers. As a result, it is very similar to the Husqvarna 105, which can manage lawns of up to 600 m², but costs twice the price.
It lacks smart features & doesn’t do as good a job on your edges like other brands, but its core functionality is excellent at an unbeatable price.
Best for lawns between 400m² & 600m²
The McCulloch ROB R600 follows closely from the Flymo 1200R. It can manage lawns of up to 600 m² with excellent core functionality to maintain a garden really well without any human intervention. The McCulloch brand is owned by Husqvarna, there are a lot of similarities between this model and the Flymo 1200R.
Where the McCulloch ROB R600 wins is on its balance between cost and features. Again, it is targeted at the more cost-conscious buyer. Still, if you are looking for an excellent robotic lawnmower at a very reasonable price, then you cannot go wrong with this model.
Best for lawns between 600m² & 1000m²
The GARDENA SILENO life is a compact and manoeuvrable Robotic Lawnmower that can master inclines of up to 35 per cent, as well as narrow corridors and passageways without a problem.
Thanks to its SensorCut System, the GARDENA SILENO life does not create lawn stripes but rather ensures cutting patterns are perfectly balanced for a correctly maintained carpet of grass. It is suitable for a lawn size of up to 1,000 square metres.
Best for lawns between 1000m² & 1500m²
